Make Happiness A Habit Blog
Gratitude is the magic bullet of happiness. It's appreciating the good things in your life, big or small, shifting your focus from "what's missing" to "what's wonderful."
What happens if you don't practice gratitude?
Negativity bias! Our brains are wired to dwell on the bad. Skipping gratitude means missing out on joy, resilience, and deeper connections.
So, how do you practice gratitude? Start small! Take a minute each day to:
Reflect: Jot down three things you're grateful for, from your morning coffee to a supportive friend.
Savour: Mindfully experience one thing, like the warmth of the sun on your skin or the laughter of a loved one.
Express: Thank someone you appreciate, write a gratitude letter, or simply say "thank you" with genuine warmth.
Need an example? "I'm so happy and grateful now for the delicious breakfast my partner made, the inspiring book I'm reading, and the chance to connect with a friend today!"
Right now, take out your phone or write in a journal in under a minute to practice gratitude. What are 3 things you are grateful for today?
Bonus Tip: Make it a habit! Set a daily reminder, keep a gratitude journal, or find a gratitude partner. The more you live with a gratitude attitude, the happier you'll be!
